JOB TITLE: Intramural Supervisor
PAY RATE: $11.50 per hour
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Club Sports & Intramurals
JOB FUNCTION: Become a Sports Supervisor to learn valuable skills that you will take with you after graduation! Experience conflict management, decision-making, leadership, teamwork, and enforcing rules and policies of Intramural and Club Sports. This position is designed to have interactions with various Competitive Sports parties, including Intramural participants and Club Sports members and spectators, to improve the impact and quality of the program within Campus Recreation at Sam Houston State University. Supervisors should have a positive and professional attitude with a desire to create a welcoming and safe environment through a love of sports and recreation.
HOURS: Up to 20 hours per week. Flexible work schedules- Weeknights Monday-Thursday and weekend shifts
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set-up and tear-down equipment for Intramural and Club Sports programming
  • Main point of contact and responsible for assisting up to 500 participants per shift.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons by having strong communication and interacting with everyone in a respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Evaluate and develop student officials on a number of program criteria.
  • Enforce policies and procedures of SHSU Campus Recreation
  • Respond to injuries and provide care
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment for participants and spectators
  • Record game scores, sportsmanship, misconducts, etc. using Fusion Play
  • Communicate with all staff professionally and in a timely manner
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours at Sam Houston State University
  • Successfully pass the State of Texas criminal background check
  • Completion of SHSU student employee compliance training and any additional trainings required by the department and university
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or signed up for a course within first week of hire)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or signed up for a course within first week of hire)
  • Able to work on late nights throughout the week
  • Possess a passion for working with people and around sports
  • Be able to work in an active, crowded, and fast-paced environment
  • Must have an increased focus on being punctual, reliable, and dependable
  • Excellent communication skills and the able to work with a wide variety of personalities
  • Open to constructive feedback while also keeping a positive and upbeat attitude
  • Ability to handle conflict as well as confront patrons in a calm and professional manner
