Job Description
The PROJECT MANAGER will have responsibility for the overall supervision of engineering projects or project elements which are assigned. The Project Manager will assure that the project conforms to the contractual agreement with the client, that the project is completed within the defined timeframe and within the determined budget. Plans and develops surveying projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major organization programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of concepts and approaches. The Project Manager shall maintain liaison with individuals within and outside the organization, with responsibility for acting independently. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience.
Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and directs a number of large and important projects or a project of major scope and importance or is responsible for the entire surveying program of an organization when the program is of limited complexity and scope. The extent of the responsibilities of Senior Project Manager generally includes a few (3-5) subordinate supervisors.
  • Maintains direct contact with the client to include preparation of proposals, presentations to client, and preparation of contractual agreement with client.
  • This position requires good communication skills to effectively maintain relationships with existing clients and to develop new client relations.
  • As a means of maintaining and developing client relationships, the Senior Project Manager is expected to spend time, outside of normal business hours if necessary, participating in local civic organizations, community events, etc.
  • Assists in preparing and implementing marketing plan for assigned department.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of engineering department staff, other professionals, and technicians. Evaluates the progress of the staff and results obtained and recommends major changes in order to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and quality of all work performed on projects assigned. Develops project task list to define scope of work, budgets and schedules tasks, monitors project tasks to maintain budget, schedule and scope of work. Responsible for all written work submitted to client.
  • Prepares and updates projections for executive management of expected revenue and staffing needs.
  • Responsible for professional development of department and/or team staff including implementation of training methods and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • GA PE registration is required; registration in additional states preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience, 10 years work experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license required; must have satisfactory driving record in accordance with EMC fleet insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a background check as required by military, industrial, port, and other client sites.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
