Job description

The Quality Engineer / Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring products meet customer,

regulatory, and company quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role

combines hands-on inspection activities with quality engineering functions, including process

auditing, root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality system maintenance, and continuous

improvement initiatives. The position works closely with production, engineering, suppliers, and

management to ensure product conformity and customer satisfaction.

Quality Inspection

• Read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine

quality requirements.

• Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products for

conformance to specifications.

• Approve or reject raw materials, components, and finished products in accordance with

established quality standards.

• Select and inspect production samples using measuring equipment, testing devices, and

appropriate inspection methods.

• Perform dimensional, visual, functional, and mechanical inspections as required.

• Monitor equipment and inspection tools to ensure proper operation and calibration.

• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.

Quality Engineering

• Establish and maintain quality standards, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria.

• Determine and track quality metrics for manufacturing processes and product

performance.

• Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular testing to identify defects and

process issues.

• Audit quality systems and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with ISO

9001:2015 requirements and company standards.

• Update and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), including incidents,

corrective actions, and process improvements.

• Analyze quality data and prepare reports on defects, nonconformances, supplier

performance, and corrective actions.

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and quality documentation for accuracy and

compliance.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

• Investigate products and process nonconformances and identify root causes.

• Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions.

• Work with production, engineering, and other departments to improve product quality and

manufacturing efficiency.

• Support quality improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, process capability,

and customer satisfaction.

• Coordinate with external auditors, customers, and suppliers regarding quality requirements

and compliance.

• Assist in the development and achievement of quality objectives and key performance

indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing or machining

environment.

• Minimum 3 years of experience using FARO Arm and/or Romer Arm inspection equipment;

5 years preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of experience using Verisurf software; 5 years preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of First Article Inspection (FAI) experience; 5 years preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of GD&T interpretation and application experience; 5 years preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical

documentation.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as

part of a team.

• Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS).

• Extensive knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout office and manufacturing

areas.

• Frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, measuring instruments, and

inspection equipment.

• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Must possess sufficient visual acuity to inspect parts, identify defects, and read blueprints

and quality documents.

• Exposure to moderate to high noise levels; required to wear appropriate personal protective

equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed

footwear.

Work Environment

Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, airborne particles, noise, oils,

and coolants commonly found in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Compliance with all

safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
