Job description

As Product Portfolio Manager, you will be the strategic owner of a defined product portfolio, combining varieties, seed treatments, and seed technologies for a specific geography. You’ll drive the full product lifecycle and serve as the central point of coordination between Product Innovation & Breeding Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Technical Crop Service to deliver competitive products that create value for customers and support long-term business impact.

Your key responsibilities Strategic product ownership and being the central point of contact
  • You own and drive the effort around the management of products of the UBS portfolio with defined characteristics, combining varieties, seed treatments, and seed technologies for a specific geography.
Supporting the development of new hybrids and streamlining the portfolio
  • You own the product profiles and highlight the key priorities to steer breeders, based on business and market intelligence.
  • You participate in field trial visits and key selection meetings with breeders to get knowledge on new potential hybrids. You follow registration trials and new hybrids (Stage 8).
  • You review the product portfolio to rationalize the number of hybrids (variety and genetics).
  • You set up “screening” trials to select adapted genetics in Official Variety Trials in maturing markets
Leading the Official Variety Trials (OVT) process
  • You select new genetics for 1st year in OVT in maturing and non-technical markets.
  • You propose the OVT budget per country/product profile for new and existing entries.
  • You review the product portfolio to rationalize the number of varieties and genetics.
  • You drive the registration process in priority markets and support in non-priority markets (driven locally by Technical Crop Service for each brand).
Your profile
  • You have a Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Plant Science, or Business and at least 5 years of experience in product management, seed business, portfolio management, or agronomy-related roles.
  • You have a proven ability to lead cross-functional projects involving R&D, sales, and marketing.
  • You have experience with product lifecycle management, portfolio rationalization, and registration processes (especially in Official Variety Trials).
  • You have a strong understanding of portfolio design, hybrid selection, and product lifecycle economics.
  • You’re able to define product positioning and steer breeding priorities with commercial end-goals in mind.
  • You’re comfortable with trial data, performance metrics, and market intelligence.
  • You’re able to use data to drive prioritization, rationalization, and investment choices.
  • You’re skilled in leading, without authority, all relevant stakeholders around shared goals.
  • You have strong planning and coordination abilities, and are able to manage diverse stakeholders and complex timelines.
  • You have a solid understanding of market segmentation, pricing logic, and competitive dynamics.
  • You bring a customer-centric mindset to breeding and development conversations.
  • You’re an excellent communicator: you can synthesize complex topics for different audiences (breeders, sales, marketing).
  • You’re skilled in presenting recommendations, defending tradeoffs, and building buy-in across functions.
  • You have a structured approach to portfolio reporting, product introductions, and registration tracking.
  • You’re capable of managing budgets and coordinating trials across multiple countries or segments.

You are fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
