Department Information
The Department of Theatre at Bridgewater State University is committed to the artistic empowerment and educational invigoration of our students. We strive for inclusive theatrical participation and collaboration that drives conversation and social change.
Position Information
Supervised by the Theatre department's Technical Director, the Theatre Scene Shop Staff are responsible for the successful fabrication and installation of all scenic elements for four production blocks (2 productions per semester).
Duties include:
  • Assisting in the construction and fabrication of set and props.
  • Assisting in any scenic painting needs.
  • Assisting in the safe and secure installation of all scenic elements.
  • Assisting in the safe dismantling of all scenic elements after the final performance.
  • Assist in the organization, upkeep, inventory, and cleanliness of the scene shop, stage, and all storage areas.
  • Assisting with lighting, sound, and projection setup as needed.
  • Assist production stage management and run crew as needed.
  • Assist and work alongside university events as needed.

Eligibility requirements
  • Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package

Preferred Qualifications
A successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; and interested in a hands-on learning experience. The work can be challenging, but the rewards are immediate and concrete - a successful theatre production.
We are looking for candidates with the willingness & desire to acquire skills in stage carpentry, scenic painting, theatre design & installation (set, props, lighting, sound), and peer supervision. Prior experience in any of these areas is helpful but not necessary. You will be trained on the job.
