About the Role

The Community Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and regulatory success of a multifamily affordable housing community. This position oversees leasing performance, resident relations, property compliance, team leadership, and financial management while ensuring exceptional service for residents and stakeholders.

This is an ideal opportunity for a results-oriented property management professional with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Property Operations

  • Oversee all daily property operations to ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming community.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resident satisfaction.
  • Drive occupancy goals through effective leasing and retention strategies.

Affordable Housing Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with LIHTC, Tax Credit, and Affordable Housing program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate resident files and documentation.
  • Prepare for audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.

Financial Management

  • Manage property budgets and financial performance.
  • Monitor rent collections, delinquency, occupancy, and expenses.
  • Analyze monthly reports and implement strategies to maximize property performance.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and develop on-site team members.
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to achieve operational goals.

Maintenance & Vendor Management

  • Partner with maintenance teams to ensure timely completion of work orders and property upkeep.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.

Resident & Community Relations

  • Build positive relationships with residents and community stakeholders.
  • Resolve resident concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen community engagement and resident retention.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 1+ year of experience as a Community Manager
  • 3+ years of multifamily property management experience
  • 1+ year of LIHTC / Affordable Housing / Tax Credit compliance experience
  • Proven experience managing property operations, occupancy, and financial performance

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of LIHTC and Affordable Housing regulations
  • Budgeting, rent collections, and financial reporting experience
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RealPage
  • Affordable Housing certifications (CPO, COS, TCS, HCCP, or equivalent)
