Job OverviewThe Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and oversight of project scheduling processes across multiple construction projects. This role provides strategic direction and guidance to project schedulers and project teams to ensure schedules are accurate, compliant, and aligned with project objectives. The Scheduling Manager partners closely with Operations, Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and clients to drive schedule performance, mitigate project risks, and support successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive scheduling experience, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects while establishing and maintaining scheduling best practices throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks:

  • Directly supervises Project Schedulers and provides scheduling leadership and support to project teams across the organization.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide scheduling standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of project schedules for multiple projects and business units.
  • Manage and mentor Project Schedulers, providing technical guidance, training, and professional development.
  • Establish scheduling requirements, reporting standards, and schedule quality controls across all assigned projects.
  • Review and approve baseline schedules, schedule updates, recovery schedules, and schedule analyses.
  • Monitor project schedule performance and identify risks, trends, delays, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead critical path analyses and provide recommendations to improve project performance and resource utilization.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and presentations regarding project schedule health, key milestones, and forecasted completion dates.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts associated with change orders, claims, delays, and contract modifications.
  • Coordinate schedule integration with procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual scheduling requirements and client expectations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of construction scheduling experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading scheduling teams or project controls functions.
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, electrical, data center, semiconductor, or mission-critical construction projects preferred.
  • Experience with schedule recovery planning, claims analysis, and forensic scheduling preferred.
  • PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) certification or similar credential preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling methodologies, including Critical Path Method (CPM).
  • Extensive understanding of commercial, industrial, electrical, and mission-critical construction projects.
  • Knowledge of project controls, forecasting, earned value management, and performance measurement techniques.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, change management, claims processes, and schedule impact analysis.
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing, procurement planning, commissioning, and project closeout processes.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 and advanced scheduling software applications.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
  • Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
  • Required to sit at a desk work station for long and short periods of time.
  • Push, pull, lift and carry at least 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to walk and stand.
  • Required to have visual acuity with or without correction in order to read and interpret contract information and view information on a computer monitor.
  • Required to use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
  • May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
