Job description

Project Geologist

Ur-Energy Inc. | Casper, WY | Full-time

About Ur-Energy

Ur-Energy is a U.S.-based uranium mining company operating in Wyoming, focused on in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium production that supports clean, carbon-free energy generation. Our Lost Creek facility has produced more than 3.5 million pounds of uranium since 2013, and we recently commenced operations at our second ISR project, Shirley Basin. Together, these facilities have a combined annual licensed production capacity of 4.2 million pounds of UO.

Position Summary

Ur-Energy is seeking a Project Geologist to join our Geology team in Casper, WY. In this role, you will lead geologic evaluation of projects, reviewing and interpreting geologic, geochemical, and geophysical drill hole data to produce comprehensive mapping and mineral resource estimates.

What You'll Do
  • Interpret geological data including maps, down-hole geophysical logs, drill cuttings, and core.
  • Develop and expand geologic models and interpretations through detailed evaluation of geologic data using GIS and other appropriate software.
  • Map mineral trends and produce mineral resource estimates, typically using the grade x thickness contour methodology.
  • Plan and oversee exploration and development drilling programs and well installation programs.
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control for existing resource estimates across company properties.
  • Assist with technical reporting such as S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 compliant documents.
  • Provide geological input for regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Contribute to corporate due diligence activities.
  • Mentor junior geologist team members.
  • Work independently or alongside other geologists and multidisciplinary teams to advance projects, carrying out complex assignments with minimal day-to-day direction.
  • Prepare reports and maintain thorough, accurate records.
  • Operate safely at all times, using proper safety equipment, and follow environmentally sound practices.
  • Interface professionally with company management, contractors, vendors, and government agencies.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geological sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional uranium experience; a background in In Situ Recovery (ISR) uranium is preferred.
  • Strong geological and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage the collection of geologic, geochemical, and geophysical databases.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with database management and GIS software (ArcGIS preferred).
  • Understanding of resource calculation processes and the basics of mining economics.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build good working relationships across teams and with outside agencies.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role regularly requires standing, walking, and use of hands and arms, along with occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent sitting is also required. Employees must be able to regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Work is regularly performed with exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions, with a usually moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Why Join Ur-Energy

Be part of a growing team supporting domestic clean energy production at one of the country's leading in-situ recovery uranium companies, with opportunities to lead technical work and mentor junior staff across active exploration and development projects in Wyoming.

Ur-Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
