We are looking for a Portfolio Analyst, based in Chicago, IL
Your Team
The Chief Technical Office (CTO) is responsible for working with technical functions including Pricing, Product Management, Underwriting Integrity, Reinsurance, Portfolio and Accumulation Steering including Catastrophe Management, and Risk Consulting to ensure we are building Technical Excellence across our North America region, and in alignment with the overall global approach.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Portfolio Steering - North America, you will be play a central role in supporting the strategic steering of regional portfolios for assigned Line(s) of Business, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market conditions. You will focus on understanding portfolio dynamics, conducting data analysis, generating actionable insights, and converting insight into action to improve portfolio quality, financial performance, and profitability. You will need to navigate a dynamic market environment characterized by evolving risk landscapes and increasing regulatory complexity, requiring adaptability, agility, and continuous deepening of market expertise.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
  • Supporting the development and execution of the Portfolio Steering strategy for assigned Line(s) of Business.

  • Analyzing portfolio performance and providing recommendations for optimization, contributing to the forward-looking steering agenda to improve portfolio quality and profitability.

  • Conducting detailed data analysis to interpret financial and portfolio information and generate comprehensive reports that provide actionable insights.

  • Understanding underlying trends and identifying steering opportunities to support portfolio decisions.

  • Challenging portfolio performance and direction by questioning assumptions and probing off-track KPIs.

  • Collaborating across stakeholders (Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Finance, Product) to drive aligned outcomes under guidance.

  • Ensuring compliance with global standards and governance frameworks, including internal standards and external regulatory requirements.

  • Developing proposals for improving the Allianz Commercial Operating Framework and ensuring alignment with industry regulations.

  • Identifying operational business improvement opportunities related to organization, business processes, and IT applications and supporting the creation of project proposals, including cost/benefit analysis and resource planning.

  • Compiling and sharing best practices across departments through written communication, presentations, and workshops, contributing to Smart Circle discussions and cross-functional alignment.

  • Serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements.

  • Building and maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders across Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Finance, and Product teams, managing internal and external relationships under guidance and contributing to a collaborative and aligned portfolio environment.

What You'll Bring to the Role
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in assisting with portfolio management and optimizing portfolio performance to align with organizational goals;

  • Property and Casualty insurance experience preferred;

  • Experience in identifying and driving business process improvements and organizational capabilities;

  • Ability to analyze data sets and provide actionable insights using Excel and Power BI;

  • Strong analytical, numerical and adaptive problem solving skills, using logical and methodological approach;

  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate solutions, and implement effective strategies;

  • Ability to make strategic decisions and drive organizational change;

  • Project management skills, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and timely delivery;

  • A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to develop and positively influence key, strategic position holders across locations and functions; and

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Mathematics/Statistics/Finance and/or Actuarial background.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
