This is a full-time, career-track position beginning October 2025, and is renewable with the opportunity for progression. The selected candidate will be appointed as Assistant Senior Instructional Professor, Associate Senior Instructional Professor, or Senior Instructional Professor, with rank determined by qualifications. Depending on the rank, the appointment will be for a term of up to five years, renewable with the possibility for promotion.
The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and providing instructional oversight of the Soft Matter Engineering track of the Master of Engineering program. Instructional responsibilities will include the delivery of three courses during the academic year, which may include courses having the primary formats of lectures, laboratories, or engineering design projects; at least one quarter of the MENG 25130/35130 Soft Matter Characterization Laboratory course; and the development and delivery of new courses, depending on programmatic needs for the MEng, undergraduate, and/or PhD programs. The candidate will also be expected to keep regular office hours, contribute to non-classroom instructional or service duties, and ongoing professional development.
The candidate will manage the Soft Matter Characterization Facility (SMCF), a core facility of the PME that maintains a suite of specialized instruments dedicated to studying the structure, properties, and dynamics of soft materials. The candidate will provide ongoing support to both internal and external researchers and users of the SMCF.
Additional responsibilities beyond the classroom will include, but not be limited to: advising students on the Soft Matter Engineering track of the Master of Engineering program; advising College students majoring and minoring in Molecular Engineering; engaging in recruitment activities for the PME academic programs; developing, participating in, and contributing to program operations, admissions, student recruitment, alumni engagement; and/or delivering summer programming for the PME.
