Senior Accountant

Company Description: Polymer Science, Inc. is a contract manufacturer specializing in the design

and manufacture of coatings for the electronic, medical and pharmaceutical industries. Established in 1998 in Monticello, Indiana, Polymer Science has grown into an international company having facilities in the US and Asia. We strive to partner with our customers to provide innovative ideas, quality products and exceptional service at competitive prices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; reconcile accounts; support close processes.
  • General Ledger Management - Maintain GL accuracy, post journal entries, and ensure proper coding aligned with company policy.
  • Cost Accounting - Track production costs, analyze variances, and support inventory valuation for polymer manufacturing workflows.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable - Process invoices, monitor aging, ensure timely collections, and maintain vendor compliance.
  • Budget Support - Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting cycles, and departmental spend analysis.
  • Audit & Compliance - Support internal and external audits; maintain documentation; ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies.
  • Process Improvement - Identify efficiency opportunities, streamline workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration - Partner with operations, procurement, HR, and leadership to ensure financial clarity and support decision‑making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, communicate clearly, and maintain accuracy under deadlines.
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to high‑quality financial work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in polymer, chemical, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and production workflows.
  • Familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in long‑term career progression, with the capability to grow into a senior financial leadership role such as VP of Finance within 5–7 years.


Compensation: Competitive salary and bonus package


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week, on-site (no hybrid or remote work)
