Position Summary:

Reporting to a Director responsible for a group of Clinical Services for the hospital site and with/through subordinate personnel, assumes management responsibility for a single major (or multiple smaller) function(s), service(s) or process(es) that provides support to clinical operations. Provides accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services for one or more clinical areas and staff performance. Initiates, facilitates, and supports communication among a variety of health care providers and with various external agencies. Requires a high level of independent judgment and substantial latitude for independent action. Direct reports may include Clinical Leaders, Coordinators and/or high-level professional/administrative exempt and Nursing supervisory personnel.

What the Operating Room Nurse Manager will do:

  • Specifically, the position identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management input, goals and objectives.
  • Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives; modifies procedures/protocols, as necessary.
  • Monitors the quality and quantity of workflow to ensure work is completed.
  • Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires and disciplines.
  • Completes performance appraisals.
  • Develops daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures and assists in developing and monitoring budget for single or multiple, closely related fields, areas or processes and, as requested, assists in assessment of goal attainment.

What the Operating Room Nurse Manager will need:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with a bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or plan to complete Master's degree strongly preferred.

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.

  • Minimum of three years clinical experience in an acute care setting with progressively more responsible leadership experience.

  • Preferred:Two years prior supervisory or manager experience
