Job description

Forklift Operator/Yard Manager role combines hands-on equipment operation with yard operations oversight, ensuring safe, efficient material handling and inventory control in an outdoor/industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

Forklift & Equipment Operations

  • Operate sit-down forklifts, boom lifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Move, load, unload, stack, and transport goods.
  • Secure loads and verify pallet stability.
  • Conduct daily forklift inspections and report maintenance needs.

Yard & Inventory Management

  • Load/unload trucks and maintain yard organization.
  • Inventory materials and check received goods.
  • Complete required paperwork.
  • Verify materials and counts on trucks.
  • Report discrepancies, yard damage, or stock issues.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA and company safety rules.
  • Keep work areas and the yard clean and hazard-free.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and equipment defects.

Support & Leadership

  • Assist with setup, production support, and coordination with shipping/receiving and production teams.
  • Oversee yard operations.
  • Ensure customer loads are scheduled without delay and coordinate with drivers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 2–3+ years of forklift experience in manufacturing, distribution, or yard settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and current forklift certification.
  • Ability to lift 50–80 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and bend/stoop.
  • Strong safety awareness, reliability, communication, and organizational skills.
