Position Description:
Secondary Math Professor
West Virginia Academy is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Secondary Math Professor to inspire scholars in grades 7 through 12 and foster a deep understanding of mathematics. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, believes all scholars can succeed, and creates a structured, engaging classroom environment where scholars are challenged to think critically, solve problems, and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities.
The Secondary Math Professor is responsible for planning and delivering standards aligned instruction that promotes conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and real world application of mathematical concepts. The successful candidate will use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of scholars, differentiate instruction as needed, and use assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
The Secondary Math Professor will establish and maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment that supports learning and reflects West Virginia Academy's expectations for scholar behavior, including the implementation of the CHAMPS framework. Regular communication with families regarding scholar progress, academic performance, and classroom expectations is an essential component of the position.
This position requires close collaboration with fellow professors and administrators to ensure scholars receive the support necessary to achieve academic success. The Secondary Math Professor is expected to actively participate in professional development, faculty meetings, school events, and other professional responsibilities that contribute to the mission and vision of West Virginia Academy.
Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content, effective classroom management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high expectations for all scholars.
