The Company’s headquarters is in Monroe Township, New Jersey with an additional office in Richmond, California.

The Role:

Ocean Power Technologies is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Marketing to lead the company’s commercial marketing efforts across autonomous maritime systems, offshore power, and maritime domain awareness solutions. This role is responsible for executing go-to-market initiatives, product positioning, market messaging, and demand generation efforts that support pipeline growth and revenue objectives.

The Director of Marketing will partner closely with sales, engineering, product, and executive leadership to translate complex technical capabilities into clear customer value propositions and differentiated market positioning. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute integrated go-to-market strategies for OPT’s commercial and dual-use maritime technology solutions.

Lead product positioning, messaging, campaigns, thought leadership, and sales enablement initiatives across OPT’s autonomous maritime and offshore technology solutions.

Partner with sales leadership to drive pipeline growth through customer engagement, campaigns, and sales enablement initiatives.

Support product launches, demonstrations, industry events, strategic communications, and external relationships that strengthen OPT’s market presence and brand awareness.

Collaborate with engineering, product, and operational teams to capture customer insights, market feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform positioning and future growth strategies.

Lead and mentor marketing personnel while contributing directly to campaign execution, communications, and strategic initiatives.

Track and report marketing performance metrics including campaign effectiveness, lead generation, pipeline influence, and market engagement.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related field.

7–12 years of experience in B2B marketing, product marketing, or go-to-market leadership roles within maritime, offshore energy, autonomy, robotics, defense, industrial technology, or related sectors.

Demonstrated success marketing complex technical products or solutions through effective positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies that contributed to pipeline growth and revenue generation.

Experience collaborating cross-functionally with sales, engineering, product, and executive leadership teams.

Excellent communication, presentation, content development, and storytelling skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Ability to travel as needed to support customer engagements, field demonstrations, and industry events.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience marketing autonomous systems, unmanned platforms, maritime technologies, offshore systems, robotics, or AI-enabled solutions.

Familiarity with offshore energy, marine operations, maritime domain awareness, or defense-adjacent markets.

Experience supporting long-cycle enterprise or government-influenced sales environments.

Experience leading trade show strategy, product launches, demonstrations, and external communications initiatives.
