RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Development Manager in Jacksonville, FL.
Summary:
We're looking for a technical leader who enjoys building high-performing engineering teams while remaining actively involved in software design and architecture. This is a player-coach opportunity where you'll balance engineering leadership with hands-on technical contributions, helping drive cloud-native application development and mentoring a growing team of developers.
You'll partner closely with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable software solutions, modernize existing applications, and establish engineering best practices. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, coaching engineers, and influencing technology strategy.
Key Tasks:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture
* Serve as the technical leader for application architecture, solution design, and software delivery
* Remain hands-on by participating in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical troubleshooting, and strategic development initiatives
* Guide the modernization of enterprise applications utilizing Microsoft Azure and cloud-native technologies
* Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions
* Drive engineering best practices across software design, testing, code quality, security, and CI/CD
* Support Agile delivery by helping prioritize work, remove technical roadblocks, and ensure successful project execution
* Champion continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and adoption of modern development tools
* Coach junior engineers while helping elevate the team's overall technical capabilities
* Ensure production applications remain secure, reliable, and highly available

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
