As a Senior Manager of Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial and Investment Bank, Trade Finance team, you lead multiple squads to design, build, and operate Java-based platforms that power high-volume transactional and batch workloads. You partner across product and engineering to deliver secure, reliable services, and you're comfortable diving into code, performance data, and production issues when needed. We value practical leadership, clear communication, and accountability for outcomes.
Job responsibilities
  • Provide architectural oversight for Java-based enterprise platforms with a focus on performance, reliability, and operability.
  • Guide APIs and microservices design; evolve event-driven and messaging patterns for scale and resilience.
  • Lead modernization across legacy, cloud, and hybrid environments; enforce secure design and compliance guardrails.
  • Provide direction, oversight, and coaching for entry- to mid-level engineers; grow talent and raise engineering standards.
  • Own delivery outcomes across multiple squads, including planning, release readiness, and dependency management; be accountable for resource and budget decisions.
  • Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders; align product, engineering, operations, and risk on priorities and outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risks and issues across the portfolio of work; escalate with urgency when needed.
  • Utilize cutting edge Gen AI to provide guidance, craft strategies on how to utilize Gen AI and LLM in operational workflows
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis; drive corrective and preventive actions to improve stability.
  • Lead UX design for customer facing apps and provide guidance on how to transition customer facing app to next gen touching every point of customer interaction
  • Provide input to leadership on budget, approach, and technical trade-offs to improve efficiency and functionality

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience in hiring, developing, and mentoring talent and guide teams to deliver against strategic initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java-based platforms and other languages like React, Python, C#, Golang operating in production at scale.
  • Expertise with Linux and UNIX, including batch processing, job scheduling, log analysis, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Design and operation of APIs, microservices, and event-driven messaging architectures.
  • Experience with high-volume transactional and batch systems.
  • Practical cloud-native engineering and operating in hybrid deployments within regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI in production systems and hands on experience in using it in different domains and strategies
  • Familiarity with SDLC, secure development practices, and compliance controls for regulated platforms.
  • Familiarity with Customer facing applications and UX designs
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to senior stakeholders across product, engineering, and operations.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Prior experience in banking, fintech, trading, or capital markets platforms.
  • Background in technology consulting or professional services.
