POSITION SUMMARY:


The Project Management Specialist, under the direction of the CEO, will be responsible for assisting each General Manager with the oversight and management of various capital projects within each casino, helping to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Assist in the development of detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, budgeting, and staffing need.
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing all aspects of project implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Identify, review, and suggest vendors and/or consultants to meet project needs.
  • Monitor project progress continuously and report on measurable items such as milestones and deliverables.
  • Identifying and address issues and/or risks that may arise.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • Oversee procurement of project materials and ensure that projects are completed within the constraints of time, cost and quality.
  • Work closely with Purchasing Department to ensure all bids/contracts are completed and executed within tribal policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Schedule and/or facilitate project meetings as needed in order to maintain consistent progress.
  • Act as a liaison between management and vendors to ensure the best products for all departments.
  • Ensures compliance with tribal, federal, state, local, and company regulations, standards, and best practices.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)


  • Prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors/Meetings as requested.
  • Travel to Kewadin locations as needed.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Position sedentary primarily sitting / lifting of maximum of 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of near / midrange / far vision, depth perception, color / field of vision, typing; frequent sitting, use of hearing; occasional standing, walking, carrying / lifting, pushing / pulling, stooping, kneeling reaching, use of smell, and bending. Working conditions are typical office environment. Potential hazards include computer use and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, needles/syringes and equipment use.


REQUIREMENTS:


Education: Bachelor's Degree required or five years of large project management experience for an organization may be considered in lieu of a degree.


Experience: One year of experience in administration, project management, or planning and development required in addition to the above-stated education requirements.


Certification/License: Must undergo a criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission to obtain and maintain a Gaming License. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and spreadsheet and data base software. Must have working knowledge and be able to use office machines, such as calculator, copier, fax, printer and computer. Must have critical thinking skills. Reading and writing skills required. Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Must have organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and manage work load to meet goals in a timely manner. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public. Must have the ability to respond to difficult and stressful situations in an efficient, effective and positive manner. Must be flexible and able to work various shifts. Must be able and willing to travel to all Kewadin locations. Must maintain privacy and confidentiality. Native American preferred.


Will be required to have a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
