Job description

NABRICO Marine Products, Inc. is searching for a dynamic Plant Controller for our plant operations in Ashland City, TN. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all costs are properly reported including all production-related costs, cost of sales and operating/overhead expenses. This position is responsible for periodic reporting of operational metrics to plant and business management. This position will also serve as the business partner for the plant manager and their leadership team. Additional duties include financial projections, data analysis as requested, identifying areas for process and/or cost improvement, extracting data and creating reports, month end closing journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.

NABRICO Marine Products, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. The company manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, which are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. NABRICO Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, the business provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.

What You’ll Do:

  • General cost accounting and other related duties
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and related KPI reports
  • Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform month-end close on a monthly, quarter and annual basis
  • Code invoices, reconcile accounts, and provide variance explanations
  • Assist with annual budget and monthly forecasting with related variance reporting
  • Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Adhere to system of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX)
  • Generate inventory and operational reports for management
  • Coordinate and reconcile semi-annual physical inventory counts
  • Provide internal auditors with assistance; gathering necessary account information and provide relevant support
  • Support weekly and bi-weekly payroll and payroll reporting as needed
  • Assist with requests from external auditors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


What You'll Need:

  • Financial accounting and cost accounting experience is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required
  • 5+ years of Experience in the Manufacturing setting preferred
