GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Director of Game Management/Event Operations will focus primarily on the game operations/event management for all home athletic events each year and events hosted by the Athletic Department which consists of over 230 events per year. In addition to event management this position will assist with facility/custodial management of all Athletic Department facilities, as well as other duties as assigned. This position will need to be able to work with and support a diverse athletic department of over 500 student-athletes, coaches and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Function as a team player within the internal operations group and share the vision for the future of the department as outlined by the athletics strategic plan
  • Follow purchasing and spending guidelines as set by the University and athletic department

60%: Event Management
  • Game/Event manager for home athletic events and events hosted by the Athletic Department is the primary responsibility of this position.
  • Assists with preparation and set-up of facilities for home events. Clean-up of facilities at the conclusion of events.
  • Game management duties include hiring, scheduling, and supervision of staff for game management positions, event security and crowd control, management of ticket sales, and concessions, including student work study positions.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards for game management and event security, as well as food safety regulations specific to concessions.
  • In partnership with sports communication, develop, maintain and distribute Visiting Team Guide to opposing schools and officials coming to campus.

30%: Facility Management
  • Assist the Director of Athletic Facility Operations with maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities as assigned by the athletic administration
  • Facility maintenance and preparation become the primary position duty during summer months

10 %: Supervision
  • Manage Paycom Process for Operations Student Workers - both Game and Facility Operations
  • Primary supervisor/scheduler for game management work-study positions and formal internship program.
  • Sports Leadership and Management interns training, supervision and academic experience oversight.
  • Proactively support students from historically marginalized backgrounds.
  • Serve as Stoller Center building supervisor during assigned hours.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Other duties within the athletic department will be assigned to this position by the Director of Athletics.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
2+ Years Experience in Athletics and/or Events Management
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
