POSITION TITLE:  Manager, Content Development, Examinations (RN)


STATUS: Full time / Exempt


LOCATION: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site, 3 days/week remote)

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented manager to lead a team of Content Development Associates in our Examinations department. The ideal candidate will bring value to the team by providing leadership, nursing expertise, and operational oversight to support the development of NCSBN examinations.


Reporting to the Director, Content & Test Development, Examinations, the Manager, Content Development, Exams will oversee content development operations, guide staff and volunteer contributors, and support initiatives that ensure exam content remains accurate, current, fair, and aligned with industry standards.


This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual with nursing expertise, test development experience, strong technical writing skills, and an interest in advancing nursing regulation and policy worldwide!


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages content development staff, ensuring examination and departmental needs are being communicated and met. Contributes nursing knowledge and expertise to examination development and various department projects.
  • Leads content development activities in support of NCSBN exams. Ensures NCSBN examinations test content is current, accurate, and legally defensible.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to ensure review and editing of items is done according to timelines and production schedule.
  • Represents NCSBN at various related meetings with stakeholders and/or subject matter experts (SMEs). Presents at panels, conferences, committee meetings (NIRSC, NEC) as required.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Content & Test Development on research and development initiatives related to new and prospective opportunities (e.g., international efforts, innovative usage of surplus item inventory).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. 
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Four years of project management experience required.
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines that inform test development.
  • Understanding of item writing, review, and validation processes.
  • Skilled in clear and concise technical writing.
  • Skilled in quality checks for test materials for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to effectively present material and facilitate sessions with diverse groups.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and security of test materials.
  • Ability to analyze test data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to ensure quality and fairness in test content and administration.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $112,000 - $129,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses, qualifications and geographical location.
