SUMMARY

• Fuel sustainable top-line revenue through increased donor acquisition and retention
• Develop strategies and tactics to increase workplace and corporate giving in portfolio of accounts. This includes researching, planning, organizing, soliciting gifts, managing workplace campaigns, and other
• aspects of partnerships. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with company decision-makers, ambassadors, assigned cabinet members and fundraising volunteers.
• Work with a team of temporary employees (Campaign Coordinators) during the campaign season.
• Manage Ambassador Program.
• This position reports to the Director, Resource Development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS and EXPECTED PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/OUTCOMESMANAGE CORPORATE ENGAGEMENT PORTFOLIO

• Develop timelines, key strategies and action plans for portfolio of accounts.
• Set campaign goals to increase campaign revenue and integrate plans necessary to achieve them.
• Prepare notes for and attend meetings with United Way leadership and/or Campaign Co-Chairs with executive level staff at companies in portfolio.
• Respond to company contacts in a timely manner. Provide an excellent experience for company contacts, donors
• and all other stakeholders during campaign and throughout the year.
• Manage collection of account information and input data to ensure accuracy of Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Keep CRM up-to-date at all times.
• Research and develop plans for leadership and major gifts prospects within portfolio of accounts.
• Cultivate relationships with company decision-makers and other individuals having an influence on company corporate gifts, sponsorships, volunteerism, and employee giving.
• Spend significant time interfacing with donors and potential donors.
• Set informed projections throughout campaign to ensure portfolio of accounts is on track.
• Assist and participate in trainings, meetings and recognition events for internal and external stakeholders. This could include temporary staff, workplace giving ambassadors, volunteers and cabinet members.
• Prepare and deliver presentations about United Way. Presentations will vary in topic, length and audience size.
• Support Volunteer Engagement team with volunteer event planning, preparation, execution, and cultivation plans for future giving.
• Prepare documentation and promote sponsorship opportunities for accounts to partner with United Way. Prepare and share annual sponsorship recaps with accounts.
• Work with a team of temporary employees. Establish expectations, monitor performance to goals, and provide timely coaching and feedback.
• Identify concerns and opportunities and direct appropriate actions in a timely manner.
• Provide on-going information and support for volunteers and Campaign Coordinators assigned to accounts.
• Gather data and observations at end of campaign period to determine future initiatives, identify challenges and solutions, and share best practices.
• Serve as liaison to United Way Worldwide and other Local United Ways for organizations headquartered in our market with locations elsewhere.
• Remain current with knowledge of internal processes and encourage process improvement when possible.
• Perform other tasks and duties specific to assigned portfolio of accounts.

MANAGE CAMPAIGN CABINET AND FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEERS

• Cultivate positive relationships with assigned cabinet members and fundraising volunteers.
• Develop and review prospect lists with volunteers and make assignments based on information gathered.
• Prepare notes for fundraising volunteers assigned to accounts in portfolio.
• Provide prompt and regular communication with cabinet members and assigned volunteers.
• Provide staff support for Ambassador Division Cabinet Members.

DEVELOP PROSPECTS AND SECURE NEW GIFTS

• Prepare and maintain prospect lists.
• Analyze data, campaign results and trends as a basis for developing strategies for growth.
• Develop effective strategies to secure new corporate gifts, workplace campaigns, sponsorships, and other new revenue, by identifying companies with the strongest relationships.
• Bring in at least five new accounts/streams of revenue annually. This can include new corporate gifts, new employee campaigns, new sponsorships, and/or new Leadership and Tocqueville donors.
• Secure new gifts to support United Way's Key Initiatives.

AMBASSADOR PROGRAM LEAD

• Ambassador Resources: Work with Marketing and Communications to revise content, materials, monthly newsletters, and the Campaign Planning page to ensure most relevant information is communicated.
• Ambassador Recognition Program: Coordinate and execute an annual event recognizing our top Ambassadors. Review reports for accuracy and consult with account managers to ensure all appropriate Ambassadors are included. Recruit Campaign Co-chair, Ambassador Division Cabinet Member, or other key leader to welcome guests and staff members to serve as event volunteers.
• Major Campaign Best Practices: Bring together major accounts to share best practices and learn from United Way staff current trends and available resources.
• Ambassador Training Program: Develop, schedule and conduct six training sessions geographically convenient to Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha area Ambassadors, including virtual options when applicable. Utilize feedback from annual Ambassador Survey to enhance and refresh training program content to meet the needs of new and veteran Ambassadors. Recruit Community Impact and Volunteer Engagement staff, agency speakers and Ambassadors to present or serve on discussion panels. Ensure timely delivery of training invitations, reminders and attendee surveys.
• Annual Ambassador Survey: Update content of year-end "Ambassador Experience" survey, distribute to all active Ambassadors and conduct analysis of results.
• Ambassador Division of Campaign Cabinet: Engage cabinet members in execution of Ambassador Training Program, including their participation in the training program, serving as guest panelists and leading table discussions, and as United Way advocates at the annual Recognition Program.
• Other tasks that relate to the overall experience of United Way Ambassadors.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities or direct reports..

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Undergraduate degree related to marketing, sales, business or philanthropy from four-year college or university and 4-6 years fundraising or related experience.
• Requires experience in nonprofit fundraising and basic understanding of United Way's model.
• Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, and the ability to learn new programs independently.
• Strong analytical abilities to manage and utilize large data files required.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to communicate and interact well on all levels.
• Demonstrated quality public speaking skills and experience highly desired.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Good understanding of group dynamics and good group facilitation skills.
• Ability to prioritize and balance competing demands.
• Ability to work in a complex environment using technical and interpersonal skills.
