Job description

The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing our network engineering team. This role involves managing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, drive innovation and lead strategic initiatives to support business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversee network strategies, policies, and best practices to ensure robust, scalable, and secure network operations.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to a team of highly skilled network engineers.
• Oversee network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Plan, design, and execute network infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and optimizations to improve performance and reliability.
• Respond promptly and effectively to network production issues and taking ownership to ensure their resolution.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Vendor selection and relationship management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience in network engineering, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure in an ISP environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security ( e.g, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs).
    • Hands-on experience with network hardware and software from Vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Arista.
    • Product familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Arista and other switch/routing vendors.
    • Hands-on experience with SD-WAN and network automation
    • Proficient hands-on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols such as: VLAN/PVLAN, STP, HSRP/VRRP, IP subnetting, routing. Increasing understanding of a wider set of protocols and advanced technologies
    • Hands on experience working in a multi-tenant network environment.
    • Knowledge of Internet Governance and Policy (e.g. IRR, RIR, RPKI)
    • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong team building, mentoring, and coaching skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Data Center Experience
  • Ansible and/or NetDevOps experience
  • Relevant network engineering certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent certifications in DDoS mitigation platforms.
  • Service provider experience, preferably in a Data Center environment.
  • Advanced skill level with Cisco iOS, iOS-XR, and/or Nexus OS (NX-OS)
  • Masters Degree
