Job description

Security Engineering Manager, Network Security

Livingston, NJ / New York, NY / Sunnyvale, CA / Bellevue, WA CoreWeave is The Essential Cloud for AI™. Built for pioneers by pioneers, CoreWeave delivers a platform of technology, tools, and teams that enables innovators to build and scale AI with confidence. Trusted by leading AI labs, startups, and global enterprises, CoreWeave combines superior infrastructure performance with deep technical expertise to accelerate breakthroughs and turn compute into capability. Founded in 2017, CoreWeave became a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: CRWV) in March 2025. Learn more at www.coreweave.com.

What You'll Do

CoreWeave is the AI hyperscaler, operating infrastructure at a scale and level of complexity required to support the most demanding AI workloads in the world. In this role, you will lead network security for the platform, shaping how security is designed into the network foundations that power large scale GPU clusters and distributed AI workloads. You will operate at the intersection of performance, reliability, and isolation, where network design choices have direct impact on customer workloads. You will partner deeply with Networking, Infrastructure, and SRE to influence how next generation network fabrics, overlay architectures, and infrastructure offload technologies are built and operated. You will lead and grow a team of network security engineers while defining how network security scales alongside the platform.

About the Role
  • CoreWeave is the leading specialized cloud computing provider, offering GPU accelerated infrastructure for AI, machine learning, and other computationally intensive workloads.
  • CoreWeave has rapidly grown into a key player in the AI cloud space and operates large scale infrastructure across multiple U.S. data centers, supporting high performance, latency sensitive workloads for some of the most demanding customers in the world.
  • As CoreWeave continues its rapid growth, securing the underlying network that powers this platform is a critical priority.
  • CoreWeave operates high performance, HPC grade networking, including InfiniBand fabrics and modern overlay based network architectures, to support large scale distributed AI workloads.
  • These environments place unique demands on network security, where performance, isolation, and reliability must be designed together rather than treated as separate concerns.
  • This role is responsible for running, evolving, and operating CoreWeave's network security program and engineering team in close partnership with Networking, Infrastructure, SRE, and other security teams.
Core Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Own the strategy and evolution of CoreWeave's network security posture across the network fabric, control planes, and edge.
  • Partner with Networking to design and secure large scale network architectures, including modern overlay and segmentation based designs such as EVPN, VXLAN, and VRF based isolation.
  • Help define and guide the security model for high performance networking environments, including InfiniBand fabrics and other performance sensitive interconnects.
  • Guide the security implications of infrastructure offload patterns, including the use of DPUs and SmartNICs for networking and policy enforcement.
  • Lead, grow, and develop a team of network security engineers through mentorship, technical direction, and performance management.
  • Drive the design and maturity of DDoS mitigation and traffic defense capabilities, balancing in house systems with third party platforms where appropriate.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex network security incidents, partnering with detection, response, and reliability teams to improve visibility, automation, and recovery.
  • Define and evolve network security standards, guardrails, and metrics that scale with the platform.
  • Ensure network security controls support compliance requirements and customer commitments through automation and measurable outcomes.
  • Influence secure by design decisions across infrastructure, networking, and security through partnership rather than gatekeeping.
Who You Are
  • You have 7 to 12 or more years of experience in network, infrastructure, or platform security within large scale cloud, hyperscaler, ISP, or high performance computing environments.
  • You have 3 to 5 or more years of experience leading or managing engineers, either as a people manager or technical leader with people responsibility.
  • You have strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, BGP, DNS, TLS, segmentation, and control plane security.
  • You have experience securing modern network architectures, including overlay based designs and multi tenant environments.
  • You are comfortable reasoning about complex distributed systems and applying sound security judgment in performance sensitive environments.
  • You communicate clearly and partner effectively across disciplines, including Networking, Infrastructure, and SRE.
  • You bring a pragmatic, systems oriented mindset and are comfortable making tradeoffs in fast moving environments.
Preferred
  • Experience operating or securing high performance or HPC grade networks, including InfiniBand based fabrics.
  • Hands on exposure to large scale fabric networking and performance sensitive traffic patterns.
  • Experience with DPUs, SmartNICs, or similar infrastructure offload technologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking, containerized environments, and CNI based policy enforcement.
  • Proficiency with automation or programming languages such as Python or Go.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, or SOC2 in the context of infrastructure and platform security.
  • Experience partnering closely with incident response, detection engineering, or reliability teams during complex incidents.
Wondering If You're a Good Fit?

We believe in investing in our people and value candidates who bring diverse experiences and strong learning velocity, even if they are not a perfect match on every requirement. If some of the following resonates with you, we would love to talk.

  • You enjoy working on complex networked systems where performance, reliability, and security are tightly coupled.
  • You are excited by the challenge of securing hyperscale, AI driven infrastructure.
  • You are curious about how modern cloud platforms are built and how to secure them pragmatically.
  • You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and making thoughtful tradeoffs.
  • You care deeply about building strong teams and healthy engineering culture.
  • You believe security should enable the platform and the business, not slow it down.
