Job description

The Sleep Technologist is an individual that performs sleep studies to assist in the assessment, testing and monitoring, diagnosis, management and care of patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder, REM behavior disorder, narcolepsy, insomnia, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have successfully completed one of the exams listed below:

  •  Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT):
    • CPSGT-Certified Polysomnographic Technician
    • RPSGT-Registered Polysomnographic Technician
  •  National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC):
    • CRT-SDS - Certified Respiratory Therapist (If not already SDS, individual must pass exam within 7 months of hire date)
    • RRT-SDS - Registered Respiratory Therapist (If not already SDS, individual must pass exam within 4 months of hire date)
  •  American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM):
    • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
  • Individual must have a Louisiana license.
  • Individual must be competent in the performance of sleep studies.
  • Individual must attain a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and moral character.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
