Industry: Nuclear Power / Energy
Experience Levels: Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III & Senior Mechanical Engineer
Per Diem: Available for qualified candidates residing more than 100 miles from the work location

Position Overview:
We are seeking Mechanical Engineers at multiple experience levels to support engineering, design, plant modifications, and capital improvement projects at a commercial nuclear power plant.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineers ranging from early-career professionals to experienced Senior Engineers who want to support critical mechanical systems within the nuclear power industry.

Mechanical Engineers will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Project Management, Design, and external engineering organizations to develop technical solutions, execute plant modifications, improve equipment reliability, and support the safe and reliable operation of the facility.

Engineers will have the opportunity to support projects throughout the full engineering lifecycle, including conceptual design, engineering evaluations, calculations, design changes, procurement, installation, testing, startup, and project closeout.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and technical analyses for mechanical systems.
  • Develop, review, and implement engineering change packages and plant modifications.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, design documents, and supporting analyses.
  • Perform plant walkdowns to verify field conditions and support engineering and design activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and system performance issues.
  • Review vendor documentation, drawings, engineering calculations, and procurement specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Project Management, vendors, and engineering firms.
  • Support design reviews, acceptance reviews, and field implementation activities.
  • Provide engineering support during outages, maintenance activities, testing, installation, and startup.
  • Support root cause evaluations, corrective actions, and equipment reliability programs.
  • Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, plant modernization, and long-term reliability initiatives.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable NRC requirements, ASME/ANSI standards, plant procedures, and nuclear industry codes.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables, project schedules, and project execution.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers as appropriate for Engineer III and Senior-level positions.
Experience Levels:
Engineer I
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and design principles.
  • Ability to perform calculations and technical evaluations under direction.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Engineer II:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting engineering design, plant modifications, power generation, or industrial facilities preferred.
  • Ability to independently complete engineering assignments with limited supervision.

Engineer III:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting and/or leading moderately complex engineering projects and plant modifications.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and mentor junior engineers.

Senior Mechanical Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience where applicable.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical leadership, project execution, and mentoring capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous commercial nuclear power plant experience.
  • Standard Design Process (SDP) qualification/experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing or supporting engineering change packages and plant modification programs.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations, ASME, ANSI, and applicable nuclear industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with capital projects, equipment upgrades, engineering design, and plant modernization.
  • Experience performing engineering calculations, design verification, system design, and equipment qualification.
  • Plant walkdown and field engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting nuclear outages and field implementation activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
\
Highly Desired Mechanical Systems Experience:
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
  • Pumps and valves.
  • Piping systems.
  • Heat exchangers.
  • HVAC and ventilation systems.
  • Reactor support systems.
  • Turbine and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Mechanical equipment reliability.
  • Plant upgrades and modifications.
  • Capital engineering projects.
  • Outage support.
  • Engineering implementation and startup.

Candidates with strong mechanical engineering experience in commercial nuclear power, power generation, utilities, or other highly regulated industrial environments are encouraged to apply.
