In this role, you will oversee multi-team operations spanning mechanical, electrical, and controls systems that support hyperscale data center environments. You will drive strategic initiatives to improve uptime, operational efficiency, and risk management across a portfolio of critical facilities, partnering closely with construction, capacity planning, and infrastructure engineering teams to ensure Meta's data centers meet the demands of a global-scale platform.
Critical Operations Manager, Data Center Facilities Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the operational strategy, standards, and roadmaps for critical facility engineering across a portfolio of data center sites
  • Establish and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance programs for high-voltage electrical systems, UPS, generators, cooling infrastructure, and building management systems
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis processes for critical facility events, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and systemic risks are mitigated
  • Partner with data center construction, capacity planning, and infrastructure engineering teams to support new site commissioning, technology refresh, and capacity expansion projects
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, capital expenditure plans, and vendor contracts for critical facility services and equipment
  • Build organizational capability by recruiting, developing, and retaining critical facility engineering talent across multiple sites and functional areas
  • Define and track key performance indicators for facility reliability, energy efficiency, and operational risk, reporting outcomes to senior leadership
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including automation of facility monitoring, standardization of operating procedures, and adoption of emerging critical infrastructure technologies
  • Collaborate with safety, environmental, and compliance teams to ensure all critical facility operations meet regulatory requirements and Meta's internal safety standards

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in critical facility engineering or data center operations, including direct management of mechanical, electrical, or controls systems in a hyperscale or enterprise data center environment
  • 6+ years of experience managing teams of engineers or technical operations specialists, including multi-site or multi-team organizational scope
  • Experience developing and executing operational strategies, maintenance programs, and capital plans for mission-critical infrastructure
  • Experience leading incident response, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation processes for high-availability critical systems
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with construction, capacity planning, and infrastructure engineering organizations on large-scale facility programs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing critical facility operations at hyperscale data center scale across geographically distributed sites
  • Professional certifications in critical facilities management such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or equivalent industry credentials
  • Experience with commissioning and acceptance testing of new data center facilities or major infrastructure upgrades
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, power usage effectiveness optimization, and sustainability initiatives in data center environments
