Job description

Technology Services team is integral to maintaining the Firm's overall technology, mobile and desktop devices, and core infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure and efficient operations. Technology Services is a single global operation with representation in each of the Firm's offices. Additionally, we have shared service centers in Tampa and Manila, supporting a wide range of technologies and operations. In addition to overseeing critical enterprise systems and providing world-class client service to our global user community, we are committed to achieving a balance between new and innovative technologies while constantly ensuring data security and compliance with legal and regulatory standards, resulting in realizing value from the latest developments in technology, such as generative artificial intelligence and cloud computing models, while safeguarding sensitive client information against cyber threats and other business interruption events. Position Summary

The Senior Engineer, Applications Systems is a self-starting problem solver responsible for designing, building, administering and supporting enterprise systems and applications across global environments. This role requires the ability to work independently with minimal direction and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership and hands-on execution.

Duties and Accountabilities

The roles and responsibilities of this job include:

  • Design, build, administer and optimize Windows Server environments including installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Design, build, administer and optimize Linux environments (e.g. RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu or similar) including scripting for automation, configuration management and system monitoring.
  • Manage and support database platforms including SQL Server, MongoDB and PostgreSQL, covering installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/restore and high availability solutions.
  • Own application deployment and lifecycle management for enterprise applications, including packaging, configuration, environment management, monitoring and incident resolution.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, including build and release definitions, infrastructure as code, automated testing and deployment workflows.
  • Configure, support and troubleshoot cloud technologies and applications (e.g. Azure, AWS or GCP), including resource provisioning, networking, identity, monitoring and cost optimization.
  • Apply a strong understanding of AI concepts, purposes and uses, as well as common pitfalls and risks (e.g. bias, data privacy, hallucinations), to support integration of AI-enabled solutions and guide stakeholders.
  • Develop and support integration solutions for cloud and on-premise systems using technologies such as Python, Integration Builder and Boomi, including API design, data transformation and error handling.
  • Design, configure and support computer networks, including core networking terminology and concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing) and related troubleshooting.
  • Implement and support enterprise security mechanisms including Akamai, CyberArk and CrowdStrike, ensuring secure configurations, policy adherence, monitoring and incident response in collaboration with security teams.
  • Provide enterprise-level support for a global organization, including participation in an on-call rotation, handling escalated incidents, root cause analysis and driving continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards and runbooks for systems, integrations and deployments.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, security, networking and operations teams to design resilient, secure and scalable solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this role are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience as a systems engineer or similar role with responsibility across Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Windows Server administration and build activities
    • Linux administration and build activities
    • Database technologies: SQL Server, MongoDB and PostgreSQL
    • Application deployment and environment management in enterprise settings
    • CI/CD practices and tools, specifically Azure DevOps
    • Cloud technologies and applications, including configuration, support and troubleshooting
    • Python for scripting and integration, plus experience with Integration Builder and Boomi or similar iPaaS tools
    • Computer networking fundamentals and configuration
    • Enterprise security tools such as Akamai, CyberArk and CrowdStrike
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both independent and team-based settings, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience supporting global organizations, including working across time zones, cultures and regulatory environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g. ARM templates, Terraform or similar).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to AI platforms or services (e.g. Azure OpenAI, AWS AI/ML, Google AI) and practical understanding of governance, risk and compliance considerations around AI use.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Linux, cloud provider, security).

Salary Range

The New York salary range for this role is $133,600 - 200,400
