Lead Electronics Engineer / Computer Scientist (OFP & Weapon Systems)
Serve as a premier technical authority and Team Leader shaping the future of Air Force weapon systems. In this expert-level role within 559 SWES/MXDPB, you will lead a team of engineers and scientists through the full lifecycle development, integration, and sustainment of critical Operational Flight Program (OFP) software and advanced simulation systems.
What you will Accomplish:
- Full-Spectrum Weapon Systems Impact: Direct the end-to-end design, development, and integration of the Operational Flight Programs (OFP) that actively control frontline military weapon systems.
- Inspire & Guide Talent: Serve as an official Team Leader, coaching and mentoring a dedicated team of developmental and journeyman professionals to build the next generation of technical talent.
- Strategic Engineering Authority: Act as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead program manager, researching and shaping new corporate policies, practices, and engineering workflows for the organization.
- Technical Team Leadership: Perform official lead duties for three or more professional employees, orchestrating project assignments, facilitating workflows, and ensuring technical milestones are met.
- End-to-End Software Lifecycle: Direct the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC)-from initial requirements definition to delivery-including coding, fabrication, and pilot-evaluation simulations.
- Systems Integration & Risk Governance: Ensure flawless system integration, manage strict configuration and data controls, and govern technical risk for OFPs interacting with diverse ground support tools and hardware.
- Rapid Engineering & Field Support: Investigate, cost, and implement vital software fixes and capability enhancements, providing direct on-site engineering assistance and testing support to the user community.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance
- Position requires travel which will be performed in accordance with Joint Travel Regulation

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
2. Knowledge of electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
3. Knowledge of software and hardware test requirements, specifications, and how they are converted into automated test and operational flight programs, along with a knowledge of test system instrumentation and their appropriate design application to engineering testing requirements, and how they integrate with avionics software and hardware systems and of the OFP development environment to effectively accomplish assigned functions and fulfill the mission.
4. Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, TOs, and/or directives.
5. Skill at software/hardware integration and troubleshooting and at applying professional judgment in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches and in devising solutions or conclusions to highly complex problems, both programmatic and technical.
6. Ability to plan, conduct, and record engineering investigations and inspections; to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions; to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to develop written guidelines, procedures, and policies; and to maintain good working relations.
7. Ability to plan and monitor large and complex engineering or scientific projects; to search out and development new or greatly modified methods and approaches so as to assure applicable objectives, standards, and requirements are met; and to adapt precedents or make significant departures from previous approaches to similar projects in order to provide for specialized requirements of some projects.
