Lab Support Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Madison, WI
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Flexible start time between 6:00 AM–8:00 AM
Pay Rate: $22–$26/hour
Employment Type: 3-Month Temp-to-Hire
Start Date: ASAP

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a motivated and organized Lab Support Specialist to join a growing team in Madison, WI. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are looking to grow within laboratory operations and biomanufacturing support.

This position is open due to continued company growth and consolidation into a new facility, creating exciting opportunities for cross-functional collaboration and long-term career development.

Position Overview

The Lab Support Specialist will support daily lab operations across lab services, materials management, and shipping/receiving functions. This role involves working closely with laboratory staff to maintain clean, safe, and efficient lab environments while helping manage supplies, inventory, waste handling, and equipment upkeep.

Approximately 75% of the role will focus on lab services, with the remainder supporting materials management and shipping/receiving operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support laboratory staff and day-to-day lab operations
  • Manage inventory, supplies, stocking, and cycle counting
  • Place orders and coordinate materials management activities
  • Support shipping and receiving operations as needed
  • Prepare and manage biohazardous and sharps waste disposal
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs
  • Assist with lab improvement and organizational initiatives
  • Coordinate supplies and support across multiple lab sites when necessary
  • Follow SOPs, safety procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with lab and operations teams
Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree in a science-related discipline
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow SOPs and safety guidelines
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel locally between sites using personal vehicle
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to wear PPE and occasionally work weekends if needed
Preferred:
  • Experience in laboratory, biological sciences, manufacturing, environmental services, or hospital support environments
  • Familiarity with inventory systems or SAP/order management systems
  • Experience handling lab waste, shipping/receiving, or materials management
