Job description

Medical Laboratory Technician

The Medical Laboratory Technician will play a vital role in ensuring diagnostic excellence through accurate testing, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety standards. This PRN role offers the opportunity to work with advanced technology, contribute directly to patient outcomes, and grow within a supportive laboratory team.

Location: Onsite, Northwest Houston (249/Louetta)

Shift: PRN, 8:00 PM โ€“ 4:30 AM. Weekend availability is required, with an average of 3 shifts per week as needed.

Compensation: Starting at $29/hour, based on experience; $3 shift differential for hours worked between 5 PM โ€“ 5 AM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform immunoassay testing, calibration, quality control, and sample analysis.
  • Accurately report test results and promptly communicate abnormal findings to providers.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; perform cleaning and sterility checks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, and lab safety protocols.
  • Support all phases of testing (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical).
  • Document and monitor laboratory logs, maintenance, and quality checks.
  • Manage supply inventory and track expiration dates.
  • Assist with training new personnel and provide backup support to the Lab Manager.
  • Maintain quality assurance records and participate in audits and inspections.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • MLT (ASCP or equivalent) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience (hematology preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of lab operations, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must be available to work weekends and average approximately 3 shifts per week as needed.
