NewLimit is a biotechnology company working to radically extend human healthspan. We're developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome, a new therapeutic mechanism to restore regenerative potential in aged and diseased cells. We leverage functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning models to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease using experiments of unprecedented scale.
Position
NewLimit is seeking an Senior Manager, Lab Operations with extensive experience in a life science laboratory setting to join our Operations team. Our Operations team is focused on increasing the speed and efficiency of our scientific research programs so we can deliver more value to patients, more quickly. As Senior Manager, Lab Operations, you'll lead a team and work closely with scientists and engineers to design, build, and scale infrastructure and processes that accelerate our pace of discovery.
What you'll do
In your role you will:
  • Lead and mentor lab operations staff while you work with our team of scientists and engineers to build and operate a world-class functional genomics lab, taking on different challenges every week.
  • Own the strategy for procurement, maintain lab infrastructure, manage inventory, and increase the efficiency of NewLimit's research operations
  • Develop and manage the lab operations budget, and cultivate relationships with vendors across the biomedical research industry, negotiating contracts and pricing as needed
  • Identify operational bottlenecks across the organization and drive cross-functional solutions to fix them
  • Serve as the primary escalation point and strategic partner for equipment, inventory management, and procurement, partnering closely with Facilities, Finance, and Operations leadership
  • Ensure that laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, waste treatment, and foreign agent testing programs meet federal, state, and local government guidelines, and serve as the point of accountability for compliance audits
  • Develop and implement scalable operational processes and SOPs to support the lab's growth
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the lab operations team
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a cell biology, molecular biology, genomics or similar laboratory setting, including experience managing people and programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor contracts, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to identify inefficient processes at scale and lead the organizational change needed to fix them
  • Experience with procurement & purchasing systems, inventory and sample management systems, and environmental health & safety
Nice to have
  • Experience in or running a vivarium
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and team priorities
  • Hands-on research experience in cell or molecular biology; familiarity with cell culture, cloning, and NGS library preparation reagents and tools

Salary Range: $140,000 to $170,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
