The Role

Our Lab Operations Specialist, Chemistry position plays a central role at the interface of multiple disciplines in our Synteins™ discovery effort. The successful candidate will enable operational excellence of laboratory workflows across chemistry, biology, and automation. Your work will directly accelerate the pace at which new therapeutic candidates move from concept to experiment. This role offers opportunities to shape laboratory infrastructure, improve operational workflows, and grow alongside an emerging biotechnology company as our scientific organization expands.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with experience managing laboratory inventories, coordinating logistics, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation in a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Collaborate daily with chemists, biologists, protein engineers, automation scientists, and computational researchers, becoming a trusted partner who enables high-quality science across the organization.
  • Partner with researchers and vendors to maximize laboratory uptime and ensure critical discovery platforms remain available.
  • Strategically plan for instrument maintenance, upgrades, and repairs (HPLC-MS, High-resolution mass spectrometers, peptide synthesizers, biolayer interferometry, etc.)
  • Oversee waste disposal and ensure compliance with laboratory safety and environmental regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline laboratory workflows through process improvements, automation, and adoption of new laboratory technologies.

Inventory Management

  • Build and continuously improve the systems that enable scientists to rapidly access compounds, reagents, and research materials.
  • Develop and oversee efficient systems for managing compounds and research samples throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate digital records that support sample traceability and research reproducibility
  • Perform periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry and 4+ years of experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or academic research laboratory.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation maintenance and general laboratory operations.
  • Experience managing laboratory inventory systems and compound/sample management.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory information management or inventory systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

The salary range for this role is $72,000 - $103,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
