PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Inventory Cycle Counter ensures Hoffmaster's raw materials are counted accurately and inventory numbers are precise. Accurate inventory is vital to our operations, and this position is a critical component of our inventory team. In addition to counting raw materials, this position may also be required to move inventory with a clamp truck or forklift and will assist our shipping department in finished goods inventory as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Scan inventory: Accurately track items and ensure they sit in correct bins.
  • Investigate variances: Identify structural root causes of inventory discrepancies and data inaccuracies.
  • Correct MUV: Audit and correct Material Usage Variance to align system data with physical stock.
  • Reduce waste: Monitor material consumption patterns to detect and minimize manufacturing waste.
  • Drive modernization: Utilize technology and fresh ideas to improve our current processes.
  • Learn plant operations: Develop a strong working knowledge of all plant manufacturing steps.
  • Record movements: Ensure all physical material movements update accurately in the database.
  • Collaborate daily: Work closely with Receiving and Shipping Teams, assisting them when needed.
  • Operate safely: Run clamp trucks and forklifts securely in a busy manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of inventory bin systems / best practices for inventory management
  • Knowledge of material management procedures
  • Knowledge of forklift or clamp truck operations; Paterson certification required
  • Skill in oral and written communication; bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Skill in problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making
  • Skill in building and maintaining internal and external relationships
  • Ability to flexible, self-directed, and motivated to improve processes
  • Ability to be patient and adaptable to unforeseen changes
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
