Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience in a shipping, transportation, or logistics environment preferred.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment upon certification.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and excellence.
  • Good customer service, problem solving, and time management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Determine routing and arrangements for shipments considering factors such as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost.
  • Consult rate schedule for specific rates depending on method of shipment and/or distance shipped.
  • Assess most economical and efficient common or contract carrier to transport shipments.
  • Calculate and record storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges.
  • May reroute urgent shipments or arrange for special delivery at destination.
  • Prepare and maintain records of products shipped and track shipments.
  • Receive incoming materials, unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Verify quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications.
  • Maintain records of received goods, process freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents.
  • Stock and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.
  • Lift heavy items and operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts, etc. upon receipt of internal certification.
  • Knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
  • May perform wood shop functions such as operating power saws and nail guns in building skids and crates.
