Job description

Interior Designer – Houston, TX

A national design firm is seeking an Interior Designer to join its Houston studio. This role is ideal for a registered interior designer or someone able to obtain Texas registration who has strong experience with commercial interiors, space planning, finishes, furnishings, documentation, and client coordination.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to work in a collaborative design environment while contributing to a wide range of public and private-sector interiors projects.

Why This Role Stands Out

This role gives you the opportunity to work on full interior design packages, from programming and concept design through documentation, FF&E, and consultant coordination. You will work directly with clients and project teams while continuing to build your technical and design leadership skills.

Benefits may include:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Disability and life insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • 401(k) plan
  • Profit sharing
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Licensure and exam support
  • Professional dues and study material reimbursement
  • Supportive studio culture

What You’ll Do

As an Interior Designer, you will help create and develop interior design solutions while supporting project delivery from early concepts through documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop creative interior design solutions
  • Prepare programming and concept design packages
  • Support space planning, furniture layouts, lighting concepts, and finish selections
  • Prepare interior architectural detailing and construction documentation
  • Coordinate FF&E selections and specifications
  • Work directly with clients, consultants, and internal project teams
  • Support material, product, and furniture research
  • Coordinate with architecture and technical teams
  • Review building codes and accessibility standards as they relate to interiors
  • Contribute to multiple projects in different phases

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is design-driven, technically capable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications include:

  • 5–10 years of interior design experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field required
  • U.S. licensed Interior Designer preferred, or ability to obtain Texas registration
  • LEED AP and/or WELL AP preferred
  • Revit and/or AutoCAD proficiency required
  • Revit experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred
  • Strong design, detailing, and documentation skills
  • Experience preparing comprehensive interior design packages
  • Experience with FF&E selection and specifications
  • Knowledge of commercial and institutional furniture
  • Current knowledge of building codes and accessibility standards
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Who This Is For

This role is a strong fit for an interior designer who wants more project variety, stronger client exposure, and the chance to work on polished commercial and institutional spaces.

The right person will be creative, organized, technically strong, and comfortable balancing design quality with project deadlines.
