Job description

Staff Interior Designer
Nemours Children's Health | Wilmington, DE
Help design spaces that support children, families, and the teams who care for them.
Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Staff Interior Designer to join our Capital Planning team in Wilmington, DE. This role supports design projects across the Delaware Valley, including clinic, administrative, retail, and hospital environments, with a focus on creating functional, welcoming, and standards-driven spaces that support our mission of improving children's health.
In this role, you will partner closely with Construction Project Managers, Facilities leaders, end users, vendors, and design partners to support space planning, furniture planning and specifications, finish selections, installation coordination, and project documentation. You will help bring design concepts to life while ensuring furniture, finish, space, infection control, and healthcare design standards are maintained.
What You'll Do
  • Support interior design planning for healthcare, clinic, administrative, retail, and hospital-based projects across the Delaware Valley.
  • Assist with space planning, preliminary test fits, feasibility studies, AutoCAD design/construction documents, and existing conditions documentation.
  • Research furniture, finishes, products, materials, installation methods, healthcare design standards, building codes, infection control requirements, and evidence-based design practices.
  • Meet with end users to understand project needs, develop furniture specifications, document finishes, and maintain established Nemours design standards.
  • Coordinate furniture installations with end users, electrical, data, facilities, vendors, and project managers.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Interior Design Manager and manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and project priorities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting Corporate Facilities team members and helping maintain the design and construction materials library.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated by the opportunity to grow within a mission-driven healthcare environment. You bring strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a willingness to do what it takes to support successful projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from an accredited college or university.
  • AutoCAD experience required; Revit experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Excel, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, Revit, Photoshop, CAFM, and E-builder preferred.
  • Prior healthcare interior design experience is a strong plus; commercial furniture dealership experience is also acceptable.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred, or willingness to prepare for the NCIDQ exam when eligible.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Why Join Nemours?
At Nemours Children's Health, your work will contribute to environments that directly support children, families, clinicians, and associates. As part of Corporate Facilities, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful healthcare design projects, collaborate across disciplines, and grow your expertise in interior design, space planning, healthcare standards, and project coordination.
