Job description

MANAGER, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROJECTS

Summary

Support the Foundation's conservation award-making activities by assisting in the coordination and execution of Information Systems projects to ensure they meet programmatic and technical objectives on time and within budget, while increasing employee adoption and usage. Assist in developing and implementing project management strategies and plans that maximize efficiency and utility. Prepare project status tracking, reporting, and documentation to support project teams and keep stakeholders informed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the department in identifying, scoping, scheduling, and tracking projects.
  • Maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and documentation, tracking progress against defined scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Manage the adoption of standardized project management processes, tools, and reporting practices across projects.
  • Manage internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with IT leadership and project staff from various functional departments.
  • Analyze project progress and flag risks, scope changes, or timeline variances to leadership for review and escalation as needed.
  • Assist in managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, providing regular project status updates and serving as a day-to-day point of contact on assigned projects.
  • Prepare and maintain project reports, dashboards, and metrics to communicate project status and outcomes to appropriate management channels across multiple projects.
  • Independently manage smaller, lower-complexity IT projects from requirements gathering through deployment, with guidance from leadership and increasing autonomy over time.
  • Help coordinate internal and external resources to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs.
  • Support non-IT departments by coordinating training, sharing best practices, and providing guidance on tools and systems used across the IT portfolio, including the Atlassian project management suite (Jira, Confluence).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum five years of IT project coordination or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt as project needs shift.
  • Hands-on experience administering and managing projects within the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), including configuring projects, managing permissions, and maintaining spaces or boards.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to project management activities, including but not limited to Microsoft Copilot or Anthropic's Claude, with specific examples of improved efficiency or outcomes.
  • Experience preparing project reports, dashboards, or presentations for varied audiences.
