What You'll Get to Do:
- The new team member will focus on Configuration Management and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining software configuration management (SCM) processes and tools, with a primary focus on IBM Rational ClearCase.
- This role ensures that software baselines, builds, and releases are controlled, repeatable, and auditable, supporting multiple development teams working on complex, critical systems.
- The ideal candidate has strong ClearCase expertise, understands modern software development practices, and can collaborate closely with developers, QA, and IT to improve reliability and efficiency of the development pipeline.
- Ensure software standards for configuration management are met.
- The new team member may design, develop, document, test and debug software applications and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions, as time allows while balancing other responsibilities.
- Implement solutions in multiple components of the system, including storage, OS, network, application, database, and many more.
Responsibilities:
- Own and administer IBM Rational ClearCase environments (base and/or UCM)
- Define and maintain branching, merging, labeling, and baselining strategies
- Develop and maintain automated build and release workflows
- Troubleshoot build, integration, and CM-related issues for multiple teams
- Define, document, and improve SCM processes aligned with aerospace/defense quality standards
- Coordinate with IT on ClearCase infrastructure (servers, clients, views, VOBs, backups)
- Support change control boards (CCBs) and maintain CM records for audits
- Provide user support, training, and guidance on ClearCase and CM best practices
- Contribute to software design, development, testing, and debugging
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Software Configuration Analyst
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with at least 9 years of related experience, Master's with 7 years of experience; PhD with 4 years of experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Hands-on experience with IBM Rational ClearCase in a multi-user, multi-project environment.
- Strong understanding of software configuration management principles, including:
- Versioning, baselining, branching, and merging
- Build and release management
- Change and configuration control
- Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python, or Windows batch/PowerShell).
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles (waterfall, V-model, or agile) and how CM supports them.
- Ability to read and understand source code in at least one programming language (e.g., C/C++, Java, C#, or similar).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially for build, integration, and CM-related issues.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Security+ Certification
- US Citizenship
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering ClearCase servers, VOBs, and views in Unix/Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Familiarity with regulated or high-assurance environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, medical, automotive) and standards such as AS9100, DO-178C, or similar.
- Experience integrating ClearCase with defect/issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, IBM Rational ClearQuest) or CI/build tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo).
- Experience migrating SWCM implementations across source management tools suites.
- Experience developing and maintaining CM/SCM process documentation, work instructions, and training materials.
- Exposure to scripting ClearCase operations using cleartool commands and/or ClearCase APIs.
