Job description

Locums - Joplin, Missouri, Hematology/Oncology Opening (IMLC Accepted)

Start Date:ASAP

Assignment Duration:Ongoing

Schedule Details:

  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Potential for a half day off during the week.

Coverage includes:

  • Clinic responsibilities Monday-Friday
  • Some weekday evening call
  • Weekend hospital call

The client strongly prefers a provider who can provide four weeks of coverage per month.

This position will not be job-shared with a physician working a rotating 3-weeks-on/2-weeks-off schedule.

Practice Setting:Clinic and Hospital

Patient Population:Adult Hematology and Oncology patients

Case Mix:

  • Medical Oncology: 60%
  • Hematology: 40%

Support Staff:

  • 2 Full-Time Physicians
  • 2 Full-Time APPs

Responsibilities:

  • New consultations
  • Follow-up visits
  • Medical Oncology management
  • Hematology management
  • Bone marrow biopsies preferred
  • Hospital rounding as needed
  • Phone consultations
  • Weekend call coverage

Hospitalists admit new patients.

Patient Volume:Average 15-23 patients per clinic day

Call Details:

  • Beeper call
  • Primarily phone consultations
  • Occasional hospital rounding
  • Weekend call coverage
  • Some weekday evening call
  • Very light call volume

Additional call information:

  • Call Ratio: 1:3
  • Phone Consults: 0-3 per shift
  • 15-minute response time required

Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Hematology/Oncology - Required
  • Active Missouri License or IMLC - Required
  • Fellowship Training - Preferred
  • ACLS - Required
  • ATLS - Required
  • BLS - Required
