Salary: $27 per hour
Job Title: Bus Driver
Located in Loudoun County, Community Church exists to love people the same way God loves us. We desire to see people experience God, meet friends, make a difference, and become a leader. Virginia Academy serves the mission of Community Church by preparing students for their best life, through faith (a confidence in God), scholarship (a passion for knowledge), and purpose (a desire to make a positive impact). We see our graduates making a positive impact in every arena of life.
The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, performing daily pre-trip inspection and safety checks, following assigned routes and schedules, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and enforcing safety rules on an as needed basis.
This position reports directly to the Operations Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving a school bus on designated routes; to include picking up and dropping off students as scheduled.
- Responsible for conducting and recording daily pre-trip checks on bus and bus components; to include inspecting tires, lights, oil levels, windshield wipers, and fuel level.
- Ensure the fuel tank is at an acceptable level for the next trip.
- Responsible for reporting defective equipment immediately to the supervisor.
- Submit maintenance requests through supervisor as needed.
- Completes bus incident reports as necessary.
- Cleans interior and exterior of the bus by sweeping floors, dusting and washing seats, and cleaning windows as needed.
- Requires special bus runs as needed; to include evening runs.
- Communicates with the supervisor via phone or email as needed.
- Meets with supervisor, or other school officials on occasion to express and listen to concerns regarding bus operation, scheduling, and safety.
- Reports violations of state school bus law (other drivers) as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Must pass annual DMV records check.
- Must posses a Commercial Drivers License with school bus endorsement, or has the ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License with school bus endorsement.
- 4 years of bus driving experience.
- Knowledge of highway traffic safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students & staff.
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
