Job description

OSP Permitting Specialist – Fiber (Onsite)

Location: College Station / Bryan, TX

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire


Must Have (Non-Negotiable)

  • Experience pulling permits for OSP broadband/telecom projects
  • Experience supporting fiber construction (FTTH strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of municipal, county, and state permitting (TXDOT preferred)
  • Experience with ROW, pole attachments, and utility coordination
  • Working knowledge of OSP fiber infrastructure (aerial and underground) and construction requirements
  • Ability to review construction drawings and understand how design impacts permitting
  • Ability to manage multiple permits and deadlines at once

About the Role

We are hiring an OSP Permitting Specialist to support fiber-to-the-home expansion projects in the College Station / Bryan area. This role is responsible for securing and managing all permits needed to build fiber infrastructure delivering internet service to residential communities.

This is a fully onsite position working closely with engineering and construction teams while coordinating directly with municipalities and agencies to ensure projects stay on schedule.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and manage permits for aerial and underground fiber builds
  • Work directly with local municipalities, counties, and state agencies to obtain approvals
  • Coordinate ROW permits, traffic control plans, and pole/joint use applications
  • Review construction drawings, route maps, and engineering documents for permit accuracy
  • Track permit status and proactively follow up to prevent project delays
  • Partner with construction teams to align permitting with build timelines
  • Resolve permit issues, rejections, and jurisdictional conflicts
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all permits and approvals

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in OSP telecom or broadband permitting
  • Experience supporting fiber construction projects (aerial and/or underground)
  • Solid understanding of OSP infrastructure and how fiber networks are built
  • Experience working with municipalities and permitting agencies
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organization and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred

  • FTTH / residential fiber deployment experience
  • Experience with TXDOT permitting processes
  • Background working with utility providers (electric, gas, water)
  • Familiarity with GIS or permitting tracking tools

This is a Contract position based out of College Station, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
