Location: Onsite (5 days/week) - Overland Park, KS | Ann Arbor, MI | Bloomington, MN | Dallas, TX | Denver, CO | Houston, TX | Orlando, FL | Phoenix, AZ | Cary, NC | Tualatin, OR
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Compensation: $55-$70/hour

Must have Skill Set: 5+ years of protective relay settings experience, P&C design concepts, and power system modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, or SKM).

Overview:
A company is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Protective Relay Settings team. In this onsite role, you will focus on power system protection across Transmission, Distribution, and Renewable Collector Substations. You will lead Protection & Control (P&C) design efforts, develop protective relay setting calculations, perform power system modeling, ensure QA/QC compliance, and mentor early-career professionals while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Job Duties:
  • Develop protective relay settings for lines, transformers, breakers, buses, and power system equipment.
  • Perform system modeling and calculations using software such as ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, Mathcad, and Excel.
  • Review and apply P&C design concepts, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Apply NERC-PRC and relevant industry standards across protection schemes and philosophies.
  • Function in a QA/QC capacity to review deliverables and maintain quality control.
  • Lead small projects, manage schedules and budgets, and support proposal development.
