Job Title: Data Entry Operator
Location: Merrillville, IN
Work Model: Hybrid — Tuesday through Thursday onsite, Monday and Friday remote
Rate: $18–$24/hour
Contract Length: 1 year, with possibility of extension
Contract Term: August 10, 2026 – August 9, 2027
Employment Type: W-2 Only

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry Operator to support intermediate to advanced data entry, data cleanup, record maintenance, and reporting activities across multiple systems. This role will be responsible for accurately entering, validating, organizing, and maintaining alpha/numeric data while handling confidential and sensitive information with care.

The ideal candidate is highly accurate, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This person should have strong Excel skills, good mathematical ability, experience working with structured data, and the ability to proof work carefully for accuracy and completeness. The role also requires a team-oriented individual who communicates well, accepts feedback constructively, and contributes to shared team goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Entry & Data Maintenance
  • Perform intermediate to advanced data entry duties across various systems.
  • Input alpha/numeric data accurately and efficiently.
  • Support multiple data entry tasks, data cleanup activities, and record updates.
  • Maintain accurate records, tracking reports, and documentation.
  • Proof completed work for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Correct errors identified through visual inspection or quality review.
Excel, Reporting & Data Organization
  • Use Excel to filter, sort, create, update, and manage columns and datasets.
  • Perform accurate data entry within spreadsheets and system-based records.
  • Generate reports based on inputted data and completed work.
  • Support basic data analysis, tracking, and reconciliation activities as needed.
  • Use basic formulas and functions where applicable.
  • Prioritize work by coding, sorting, organizing, and processing assigned tasks.
Quality Control & Accuracy
  • Review data for errors, inconsistencies, missing information, and formatting issues.
  • Ensure work meets established accuracy and completeness standards.

Equipment & Processing Support
  • Use a 10-key adding machine to support data entry and item processing activities.
  • Make simple mechanical adjustments as needed, such as switching sets and changing control features.
  • Support item processing tasks that require accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Enter alpha/numeric data into assigned systems and spreadsheets.
  • Review and proof data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Filter, sort, organize, and update Excel files.
  • Correct errors identified during visual inspection or quality checks.
  • Maintain tracking logs, reports, and records.
  • Generate reports based on inputted data.
  • Support data cleanup efforts across multiple systems.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Coordinate with team members and respond to feedback or corrections.
  • Prioritize daily work based on assigned tasks, deadlines, and processing needs.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education preferred.
  • 4–6 years of data entry, administrative, records management, item processing, or related experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced data entry experience.
  • Ability to accurately input alpha/numeric data.
  • Ability to key approximately 10,000 keystrokes per hour.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to filter, sort, create and manage columns, and enter data accurately.
  • Familiarity with basic Excel formulas and functions is a plus.
  • Ability to use a 10-key adding machine.
