In the role of Environmental Director, you will develop, implement and monitor the environmental plans and procedures on a major transportation infrastructure project. A seasoned advisor in the construction industry, you will leverage your experience in preparing complex permitting applications and deep knowledge of local environmental regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate potential environmental liabilities.

  • Develops, implements and monitors environmental procedures and plans that meet the Project’s environmental compliance requirements
  • Advises Project team on proper interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations and specifications
  • Leads impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the project’s environmental risks and financial costs
  • Leads permitting and regulatory reviews of major Project works and milestones
  • Oversees the environmental quality management system and auditing process
  • Documents, analyzes and reports the Project’s environmental performance to stakeholders and applicable regulatory bodies
  • Advises construction team on environmental hazards and procedures to minimize adverse environmental effects
  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction
  • Coordinates external consultants, as needed
  • Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan
  • Support published corporate policies

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering, planning, biology, natural sciences or related field required.
  • 10 - 15 years environmental regulatory and compliance experience on heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary environmental teams
  • Expert knowledge of compliance with environmental regulations and new legislation
  • Experience with supporting and maintaining working relationships with Indigenous Nations and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing complex permitting applications on major civil infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience in developing an environmental management system for heavy civil construction projects
  • Superior technical writing, documentation and communication skills
