Job Description
The Project Environmental Manager will be expected to ensure environmental compliance for the construction of a high-profile EPC project. This critical leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction and guide the execution of Zachry Group's environmental practices. This position will lead and mentor appointed site environmental professionals while collaborating closely with site management, client personnel, regulatory entities, and a broad range of stakeholders to ensure that environmental compliance considerations are integrated into every phase of construction activity.

  • Ensure appropriate risk management, planning, and implementation of project environmental and contractual requirements through regular engagement with stakeholders.
  • Develop the day-to-day execution plan and delegate tasks for site environmental team in accordance with project environmental requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of environmental plans, permit applications, reports, and client focused documents.
  • Oversee work site environmental inspections, and environmental compliance documentation using best practices in accordance with project environmental requirements.
  • Read and properly interpret and apply complex project specific environmental permits/plans and applicable regulation.
  • Monitor the performance and implementation of environmental controls.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations to ensure operational compliance, refine best practices, and facilitate awareness of requirements to ensure consistency with applicable requirements.

Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or in a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 Years managing environmental compliance in the construction industry; with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels; and how they impact construction activity.
  • Proven experience managing environmental projects, leading teams, and working directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present technical reports and regulatory documentation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot - cool/cold. Occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. May be required to work in close, confined spaces for a long period of time. Noise levels will be moderate to high.
