Job description

Your Job
We're seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer (SIE) to lead hardware validation and interoperability efforts for Active Copper Cable (ACC) and Active Electrical Cable (AEC) assemblies used in high-speed networking systems. This role is focused on systems containing embedded PCAs with DSPs, retimers, equalizers, power management, and control interfaces, integrated directly within the cable module.
In this role, you will serve as a technical authority for PCA-based cable module bring-up, debug, and system-level interoperability, working across hardware, firmware, signal integrity, and networking teams. You will drive root-cause investigations, evaluate design robustness, and help define validation best practices for electronically complex interconnects.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives at the intersection of PCA hardware, embedded electronics, and networking system interoperability.
Our Team
Molex's Copper Solutions Business Unit (CSBU) is a global team that works together to deliver exceptional products to worldwide telecommunication and data center customers. CSBU is one of the most highly technically advanced business units within Molex. Our engineering teams design cutting edge solutions for high-speed, high-density products that maximize speed, signal integrity, and efficiency.
Why Join Us
You will be getting in on the ground floor of a booming sector inside Molex as part of a team building the infrastructure and processes that enable world-class interoperability testing. This role offers deep technical ownership, visibility into product readiness, and the opportunity to influence how embedded cable electronics interoperate at scale. You will work hands-on with advanced interconnect technology and play a key role in ensuring robust, repeatable interoperability across lab and customer environments.
What You Will Do
ACC / AEC Hardware & PCA Validation
  • Lead bring-up and validation of ACC/AEC cable assemblies with embedded PCAs
  • Validate DSP-, retimer-, and equalizer-based designs against electrical, functional, and interoperability requirements
  • Assess PCA behavior within the cable module including power, resets, control interfaces, and signal integrity impacts
  • Validate system-level interactions between cable PCAs and switches, NICs, and host platforms

Interop Debug & Root-Cause Analysis
  • Lead investigation of interoperability issues involving active cable PCAs
  • Perform deep lab debug across PBCA hardware, embedded firmware, signal integrity, and link training layers
  • Drive root-cause analysis for link failures, marginal performance, power-up issues, and qualification escapes

Design Review & Validation Strategy
  • Review PBCA schematics, layouts, and design tradeoffs impacting signal integrity, power, thermals, and reliability
  • Evaluate how PBCA design decisions affect interoperability across vendor platforms
  • Define validation strategies and best practices specific to PCA-based cable modules
  • Capability to interpret schematics, layouts
  • Familiarity with PCB tools like Cadence Allegro, Raspberry Pi and STM debuggers

Technical Leadership & Escalation Support
  • Partner with firmware integration, networking, SI, and data analysis engineers
  • Provide technical leadership during customer interoperability escalations
  • Mentor engineers and influence validation standards across the Interop organization

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong experience validating PBCA-based active interconnects or embedded hardware systems
  • Hands-on expertise with lab debug, instrumentation, and system-level bring-up
  • Proven ability to lead root-cause analysis across PCA hardware, firmware, and networking interfaces
  • Strong technical communication skills and cross-team collaboration

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with DSP- or retimer-based cable designs
  • Background in high-speed signal integrity and embedded power architectures
  • Familiarity with networking interoperability and compliance environments
  • Experience setting validation strategy for electronics-enabled cable products
