Job description

The Clinical Care Management Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and oversight of clinical team members. The Clinical Care Management Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that services are authorized according to medical necessity criteria and in accordance with the CBH mission and contractual obligations.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and maintain a strong functional clinical team through effective recruiting, training, performance management, coaching, team building and succession planning.
  • Be knowledgeable about behavioral health care services, system partners, service continuum and established medical necessity criteria and apply that knowledge in all work activities
  • Manage day to day operations of Clinical Care Managers and other direct reports.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of reviews and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate across clinical teams to facilitate and coordinate care.
  • Attend all meetings as assigned and actively prepare for and participation in supervision and clinical case consultations.
  • Ensure highest quality of customer service when interacting with members, providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in grievance hearings as assigned.
  • Collaborate across functional areas of CBH to operationalize changes in policy and procedure.
  • Develops specific protocols for communication between Clinical Care Managers and other direct reports and providers.
  • Facilitate internal clinical meetings and external provider meetings.
  • Accompanies Clinical Care Managers into the community to provide ongoing clinical supervision and feedback as needed.
  • Uses data driven decision making and works to ensure accuracy of member level data and timely communication of data.
  • Collaborates with other Clinical Supervisors to develop consistent expectations and supervision to Clinical Staff.
  • Obtains and reviews data relevant to members served by the team, clinical operations and staff monitoring to guide interventions.
  • Models and requires exceptional customer service in work with members and providers.
  • Documents supervision notes and next steps consistent with standards in the field.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Team Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of Clinical Care Managers of the Adult Complex Care Team (i.e JOH ASAM 3.5 providers, Mother and child ASAM 3.5, identified Complex members).
  • Ensures that Clinical Care Managers coordinate with other teams including but not limited to Adult Acute team, ASAM team, IDS, DBHIDS, to ensure that longitudinal care is promoted and not disrupted.
  • Ensure that Clinical Care Managers are reviewing cases and identifying appropriate immediate and longitudinal needs of members with complex needs.
  • Oversees implementation of population stratification approaches.
  • Works collaboratively with physical health entities to ensure smooth referral and communication process.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or related field
  • License/Certification: License required; PA Child Abuse Clearance required
  • Licensure: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Relevant Work Experience: 3 years post graduate experience with a minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience.

Work Conditions (including travel, overtime required, physical requirements and occupational exposure):

  • Must be able to travel within Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
  • Requires ability work off-site as needed
  • Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling and/or repetitive wrist/hand movements for various lengths of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to utilize computers and office equipment to complete daily work responsibilities.
  • Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuation in temperature. No protective equipment routinely needed.
  • Must be able to adapt to continuous changes/demands of the job.


Philadelphia Residency Requirement:

  • The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.
