Job description

Position Summary:

Support Director’s informational reporting needs and portfolio management strategies for mitigating risk, reducing fraud, or increasing revenue. Coordinate strategies through rules-based logic and custom-developed applications. Provide an independent assessment of the quality of credit originations and portfolio performance. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to support modeling and analytical needs of the organization and clients. Lead the gathering of solution requirements working closely with business leads. Utilize skills to routinely monitor and automate analytics to streamline business processes. Provide recommendations for strategy and process improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Support – Function as liaison to general counsel, marketing department, operations department, financial department, and individuals. Work with portfolio and merchant representatives to execute current and emerging business strategies. Interact internally to determine involvement, data requirements, and Research and evaluate new technology trends, data providers, and analytics opportunities.
  • Project Management – Supervise project lifecycle of data studies, new technology integration, or any other projects related to risk or Deliver written project plans to set expectations and gain strategic agreement. Interface with systems personnel for timely, accurate implementation of underwriting solutions. Gather requirements for new or modified software systems enhancements and/or integration solutions. Conduct and analyze business and information technology processes and prepare essential groundwork.
  • Leadership – Mentor junior level analysts of the Risk Management Ensure training/delivery of scheduled and ad-hoc data reports/studies and developing new effective methods to communicate significant risk information. Make recommendations for personnel actions and assist in day-to-day operations of group.
  • Insight – Maintain a thorough understanding of risk, operational, and management concepts to manage major portfolio risk Investigate escalated incidences in reports for further review. Suggest possible risk management solutions, credit policy changes, and action plans. Turn business requirements into functional and technical specs for inclusion in the development process and in business planning. Define and develop business reports that support project assignments.

Experience & Education Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years overall experience, credit risk a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a related field, graduate degree a plus
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated project management Well-developed financial analysis (ROI) skills
  • Strong SAS, Python or R skills, along with overall PC proficiency
  • General database querying skills (e.g., SQL)
  • Understanding of predictive modeling and credit scoring methodologies Experience working directly with internal/external clients in a consulting capacity Ability to judge and quantify results to accomplish goals and design solutions Comfortable leading work of others
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected with minimal supervision

Location/Travel:

  • Work is in the office in St. Croix, USVI.
  • Required Travel: Infrequent/ Not applicable.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time, talking & hearing constantly.
  • Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit in front of computer monitor(s) daily.
  • Noise level: moderate noise level daily in an office atmosphere.
