BARGAINING UNIT / SALARY LEVEL: This is a Contract, non-benefited position located at our Sanford Center of Excellence for Manufacturing & Trades in Sanford, ME with a pay range of $50 per hour based on qualifications and experience.  Class schedule is flexible based on training cohorts and employer demand (evening and/or weekends possible).

POSITION SUMMARY:

York County Community College (YCCC) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Contract Instructor to deliver short-term, industry-aligned training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Precision Measurement, and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Layout. This contract position supports local and regional employers in advanced manufacturing and defense-related industries by preparing participants with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to interpret engineering drawings, apply GD&T principles, and perform accurate dimensional inspections using both traditional precision measurement tools and CMM technologies.

At YCCC, we believe education changes lives. Our mission is to develop an educated, skilled, and adaptable workforce that strengthens our communities and expands opportunity throughout southern Maine. We value all learning and recognize students in both credit and non-credit programs as essential contributors to our region's workforce and economic vitality.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a commitment to hands-on instruction, and a desire to share their knowledge with the next generation of skilled workers. Working collaboratively with YCCC's Workforce Development team and employer partners, the instructor will deliver engaging, practical training that meets industry standards and supports student success.

In addition to technical excellence, YCCC is guided by the values outlined in our Culture Guidebook—treating one another with respect, working collaboratively, assuming best intent, and remaining student-centered in everything we do. We seek individuals who will contribute to an inclusive, supportive learning environment where students can build the confidence and skills needed for career success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include but are not limited to the following;

  • Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction in GD&T principles, precision measurement techniques, and CMM layout operations for adult learners and incumbent workers.

  • Demonstrate and supervise the safe use of precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates) and CMM equipment/software.

  • Teach students to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles in real-world manufacturing environments.

  • Develop lesson plans, laboratory activities, and assessments aligned with industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5).

  • Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment.

  • Collaborate with YCCC staff to ensure training aligns with employer needs and workforce development priorities.

  • Communicate regularly with Workforce Development staff regarding student attendance, progress, and program outcomes.

  • Participate in instructor orientation, required training, and program evaluation activities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Position is available until filled. Please provide cover letter describing teaching philosophy and relevant experience, resume/CV, and proof of current applicable licenses.  Employment is contingent upon successful completion of reference and background checks. Must be eligible and remain eligible to work in the United States. YCCC does not provide visa sponsorship.

    If you are passionate about your trade and enjoy helping others develop the skills needed for successful careers, we encourage you to apply. Join York County Community College and play an important role in strengthening Maine's workforce by delivering high-quality, industry-driven training that prepares students and incumbent workers for success in today's advanced manufacturing environment.
